Most Small Flat Die Pellet Mills Are Not Suitable For Wood Pellets

You should never presume that a pellet mill is able to produce wood pellets without complications. In many cases today you cannot presume if the product description is a a 'wood pellet mill' that it can actually make wood pellets. Most of the small flat die pellet mills sold today online are cheap mass produced animal feed pellet mills from China. The Chinese and they retail partners have seen the rapid growth in demand for wood pellet and simply jumped on the band wagon renaming there existing pellet presses as wood pellet presses. If you have never produced pellets before you could be forgive for thinking that making pellets from one material would be similar to another. However when it comes to pressing grasses for feed and wood for fuel the process demands change dramatically. There are various issues with the small flat die pellet mills when it comes to the power input and the rotation speed of the die. However it is the die its self that it one of the key issues. In China the dies are drilled on a pillar drill manually with no oil or lubricants. When making grass pellets the die may block, however it is possible to produce pellets with a die prepared this way. However the holes are very rough due to lack of oil used and the fact the holes are not reamed after drilling. If you try and process wood fibre through the die you will quickly block the die and waste huge amounts of time cleaning the die only to find the same thing happens again. We know because we have owned several of these pellet mills. The problem is while these pellet mills are cheap, they are also cheap in the other sense of the word. You will waste more time than the value of saving the money from purchasing a quality pellet mill in the first place. That is the reasons we do not sell any Chinese pellet mills and we only deal in UK made pellet machines. As a business we know that if we sold these machines customers would simply complain. Many other retailers do not care about their customers, or their complaints.
