Renewable Heat Incentive And Making Wood Pellets

To help develop the growth of the UK renewable heat the government has introduced the renewable heat incentive. Previous schemes have supported the purchase and installation on alternative heat systems like biomass boilers and stoves. However this new scheme is designed to cover the cost of fuel. If the applicant is successful they will be able to claim for their annual pellet fuel bill up to a certain amount.

This is unlike any pervious scheme and is unmatched by any other European country. The renewable heat incentive could make a significant difference to UK renewable heat which is currently only 1% of total UK heat generation. Due to European targets the UK government needs to increase this figure from 1% up to 12% by 2020. Supporting renewable heat will also develop more UK based jobs in the sale and production of pellet stoves and boilers and the production of pellet fuels. There are vast amounts of biomass and wood waste that is not currently used that could be processed locally into fuel pellets for this growth of the renewable heat market.
